Participatory, community-based generation of a music-based information and education campaign

 

Community information and stigma reduction sessions
The participants were shared into four groups. They were giving 30 minutes to work together and produce a draft. Each group chose a representative to present their work on a flip chart. They were to select any topic below and use it to produce a draft (See Annex 1);
 The use of misoprostol alone.
 Misoprostol + mifepristone protocol.
 Its life saving potentials, and
 How it puts power and decision into women’s hands.
Benefits of the Protocol
The participants mention the benefits of putting  as listed :
 Safety prevention and presenting scientific evidence of the health impacts of both safe and unsafe abortion.
 Right to information: every person shall be entitled to freedom of expression, including freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart ideas.
 Taking abortion medicines at home and support is safer than obtaining illegal abortion procedures, also if the abortion should happen anyway, then it should be made safe as possible.
 Right to health information and education etc., lack of access to safe abortion and contraception is a violation of human rights.
 A matter of justice and ethics.
 *stigma reduction: abortion stigma is a shared belief that abortion is wrong and/ or morally unacceptable within a community or society.
