Based on that Mrs.. { According to Chinyere it is very possible for abortion to be legalized in Nigeria when massive awareness like this are created and when all know the need the legalize it. )

Mrs. Chinyer later stated the consequences of unsafe abortion as follows:

-          DEATH; She explained that unsafe abortion is the major contribution to the country’s high level of maternal death. She told a story thus; there was a 37 years old woman from the remote area in Nigeria who became pregnant after having 8 children. She was a very hard working woman and her husband adores her. Due to the economic situation of Nigeria she decided to terminateher pregnancy knowing what having another child after 8 children would mean to her family. Getting to the hospital she met the doctor and explained everything to him, to her surprise the doctor told her that procuring abortion is illegal and against his faith. He rendered abuses on the woman and threatened to report her to the police and the king of their land should in case she performed the abortion elsewhere. She became afraid and left the hospital and ended up in the hands of quacks and died after the abortion was performed.

-          COMPLICATION; The second consequences of  unsafe abortion, she explained that abortion can cause serious health issues like, incomplete abortion, which is the failure to remove  or expel all  of the pregnancy tissue from the uterus. It also causes Hemorrhage which is heavy bleeding, infection, uterine perforation caused when the uterus is pierced by a sharp object. Another complications caused by unsafe abortion is Damage to the genital tracts and internal organs by inserting dangerous objects such as stick, knitting, needles, or broken glass into the vagina or anus.

Explaining the consequences of abortion further she said that , according to recent research an estimated  1.25 million induced abortions occurred in Nigeria in 2012, equivalent to the rate of 33 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15-49. The estimated unintended pregnancy rate was 59 per 1,000 women aged 15-49. Fifty six percent of unintended pregnancies were resolved by abortion. About 212,000 women were treated for complications of unsafe abortion, representing a treatment rate of 5.6 per 1,000 women of reproductive age, and an additional 285,000 experienced serious health consequences but did not receive the treatment they needed.
